Auks are birds of the family Alcidae, they are made up of 23 species (including Puffins, Razorbills and Guillemots).
All are restricted in range to the cooler northern waters. All Auks have relatively short wings, meaning they must flap their wings quickly to maintain lift. They are excellent swimmers and divers (appearing to “fly” in water), but when walking they appear clumsy.
