Bee-eaters, Kingfishers, Motmots & Rollers are a family of birds in the order Coraciiformes.
Bee-eaters are spectacularly colourful with unmistakable long-bills, found in open and semiopen country, mainly in drier areas; nests colonially in burrows dug into sand banks, often river banks. Bee-eaters are usually seen perched on wires or circling in swallowlike flight, often in small groups; feeds by catching insects (especially bees) on the wing. Quite vocal, often giving distinctive pipping calls.
Kingfishers are small to medium-sized, brightly coloured birds. They have a cosmopolitan distribution: most species live in the tropical regions of Africa, Asia, and Oceania, but they can also be found in Europe and the Americas.
Motmots are restricted to woodland or forests in the Neotropics, and the largest are in Central America. They have a colourful plumage and a relatively heavy bill
Rollers are a family of Old World birds, which are known as rollers because of the aerial acrobatics some of these birds perform during courtship or territorial flights. The family contains 13 species and is divided into two genera.
