The Tamarins are squirrel-sized New World monkeys from the family Callitrichidae in the genus Saguinus. The Capuchin monkeys are New World monkeys of the subfamily Cebinae.
Capuchins are famous for their complex foraging skills, such as tool use to crack open nuts. As neotropical primates, their distribution includes tropical forests in Central America and South America as far south as northern Argentina.
Tamarins are the first offshoot in the Callitrichidae tree, and therefore are the sister group of a clade formed by the Lion Tamarins, Goeldi’s Monkeys and Marmosets
