This was our 1st trip to the Algarve for a number of years.
I have always liked the less developed and more rustic east side of the area and for this holiday we chose a lovely B&B villa about 20 minutes inland from Faro. When we had been a few years previously, I had hired a guide for the day to show me the local hotspots for bird life.
I decided to do the same this time and I contacted Ray Tipper a well known authority on Algarve widlife and he and I went out together to different places for 3 of the 14 days we were there. I am grateful to him for his knowledge and experience of the area.
He made it possible for to see many more species than I would have done so alone.
